We are updating the Washington County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. Your input will help us prepare to protect life, property and the environment from natural disasters.

Hazard mitigation is proactive work that helps us lessen the impacts of future natural disasters. Hazards covered in the plan include:

    • Dam failure
    • Droughts
    • Earthquakes
    • Extreme heat
    • Floods
    • Landslides
    • Volcanic ash
    • Wildland fires
    • Windstorms, including tornadoes
    • Winter storms

Washington County has developed the plan in partnership with the cities of Beaverton, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, North Plains, Sherwood and Tigard in addition to Clean Water Services, Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District and Tualatin Valley Water District.

Public input from our Natural Hazard Mitigation Awareness Survey in 2022 helped shape the current draft of the plan.
